Acting Principal Tom Elliott said it was an exceptional showing from students, staff and families, with three teams entered this year - a Human-Powered Vehicle team (Avoca Achieve), a ‘Tryathlon’ team (Avoca Believe) and a Robotics team (Avoca Pixels).

The school’s Robotics team completed their trials, earning them the title of overall runners-up in their category.

Meanwhile, the Tryathlon team impressed with both stamina and skill.

“Our Tryathlon team completed 145 laps over an eight-hour period, which is 229.1 kms,” Mr Elliott said.

The team also performed strongly in their sprint and obstacle events and “did a great job with their design and construction and display and presentation.”

They were also crowned overall runners-up.

The standout performance of the event came from Avoca’s Human Powered Vehicle team, Avoca Achieve.

“Our HPV team completed 294 laps over a 14-hour period, which is 462.94 kilometres,” Mr Elliott said.

The team dominated across all judged areas, winners of the race in their division, winners of design and construction, and winners of display and presentation — earning them the title of overall winners of the event.

The results mark Avoca Primary School’s strongest competition at the Energy Breakthrough and reflect the dedication of students and the school community throughout the year.
