Beaufort car and truck show roars success

BEAUFORT’S Car and Truck Show brought in a strong attendance last Saturday, despite wet weather, with hundreds of avid car lovers braving the drizzle to enjoy a day at the Beaufort Goldfields Reserve. Beaufort Car and Truck Show committee member Tash Carnes said the turnout was encouraging, especially given the conditions and the cost of fuel.

“Considering the weather and the diesel prices it was actually quite good,” she said. “We couldn’t have asked for more really,” with an estimated 500 people attending throughout the day.

Ms Carnes said the committee understood that rising costs made it harder for truck owners to travel to events.

“You can’t expect trucks to go on a tour when they are struggling to make a dollar anyway. So we were really happy with the day.”

Despite the drizzle, the show still attracted an impressive display of vehicles, with around 30 trucks and over 90 cars ranging from classics to modern, on show.

“A lot don’t bring them out of the shed when it’s wet,” said Ms Carnes.

There was plenty on offer beyond the vehicles, with family friendly attractions proving popular among younger visitors.

“The petting zoo was a hit with the kids, it was one of the best ones I’ve ever seen actually. They had every animal under the sun.”

The event also featured the ever popular, mullet competition, with Lachie ‘VB Mullet’ Hayes taking out top honours.

Ms Carnes thanked everyone who helped make the day possible.

“A big thank you to our volunteers and those who did brave the elements. “It’s greatly appreciated.”
