Beaufort derby washed out
The Beaufort cricket club derby in the Maryborough Cricket Association between the Blue and Red teams was washed out last Saturday in the A Reserve competition, while the seniors lost to Laanecoorie Dunolly in the A-Grade competition.
The derby, held at Goldfields Recreation Reserve, was the first time Beaufort had two teams playing against each other for over 30 years.
The Blue team lost the toss and was sent into bat and made 4/105 off 36 overs before the rain stopped play.
Noah Scofield was on fire, with an unbeaten fifty, with Malcolm Wooley also unbeaten on seven. David Morse scored 15 runs, Nick Stabbins scored eight, Ben Woolidge scored three, and Nathan Elford scored six.
Benjamin Grant (1/14), Thomas Grant (1/25), and Blake Jantzen (1/6), were the wicket-takers for the Red team.
Tomorrow, Beaufort Blue travels to Ron Sinclair Oval to take on MKM, while the Red team has the bye.
At Deledio Recreation Reserve, Beaufort lost by seven wickets to Laanecoorie Dunolly.
After winning the toss and batting, the Bulls were bowled out for 96 in the 38th over.
Brandon Walsh top-scored with 37 runs off 83 balls. Joshua Lofts and Adam Miller also scored double figures with 19 and 10, respectively.
Theo Trevelyn-Clark had another outstanding game for the Bulls, taking 2/33 off six overs, while Lachlan Oddie also took a wicket, finishing with 1/20 (6) as Laanecoorie Dunolly chased the total down in the 19th over, finishing at 3/97.
On Saturday, the Bulls will look to bounce back when they host bottom-of-the-ladder Carisbrook at Goldfields Recreation Reserve.
