Beaufort set for a weekend of big band music

BEAUFORT will come alive with the sound of brass, percussion and music this weekend. Brass bands from across the district will come together at the Beaufort Town Hall this Saturday and Sunday the 19th and 20th of September for the annual Weekend of Music.

Saturday’s program begins at 10am with performances from the Ararat City Band, Ararat Developmental Band, Pyrenees Chorale and Haddon Concert Band.

Following a lunch break, music resumes at 1.30pm with the Ballarat City Band, Stawell Brass Band and Barkly Street Concert Band taking centre stage.

The music continues on Sunday from 10am, with the Daylesford Brass Band, Creswick Brass Band and Beaufort Municipal Band providing a lively start to the day.

After lunch, the final session begins at 12.30pm, featuring the Casterton Vice Regal Band and Horsham Rural City Band.

With musicians travelling from communities across the region, the weekend promises to be a wonderful celebration of the enduring tradition of community bands.

The two day event is an opportunity for the Beaufort community to welcome visitors  and celebrate the musicians who keep the brass band tradition thriving.
