Big crowds embrace annual moder rail exhibition
CLOSE to two thousand people braved a cold weekend to attend the 25th annual Grampians Model Railroaders Exhibition.
Held each year in the SES Hall, the exhibition draws enthusiasts from as far away as Melbourne and Adelaide.
Dozens of model train exhibitions were on show during the two day exhibition as well as around a dozen traders selling everything from rolling stock, tracks, transformers, controllers and railway paraphernalia.
Grampians Model Railroaders President Andrew Cray said feedback from visitors was extremely positive.
“We’ve had a lot of comments on how good the show was again this year.
“We had some people travel from South Australia to join us and others from all over Victoria,” he said.
Grampians Model Railroaders has a healthy membership of over 50 people and meets each Thursday at their clubrooms in the old goods shed at 15 Wakeham Street Stawell.
At the clubrooms is a model train layout where members and visitors can run their own locos.
More information can be found on their website www.gmrinc.org.au.
Membership is $45 per year.
