Held across two days, the event in the grounds of Barney’s Bar and Bistro attracted 600 people and raised $3960 for the Pomonal Village Market, which runs on the last Sunday of each month.

John Matthews from the Pomonal Progress Association said the funds will help elevate the market’s profile and reach.

“For them, it’s fantastic. Any money is always appreciated, it means that they can decide how they can better promote the markets that we have out here at Pomonal,” he said.

The monthly market also compliments the community’s popular flower and art shows, helping turn local events into full-day outings for visitors.

“The market backs those up with having stalls there to make it a bit more of a nice day out for everyone,” Mr Matthews said.

The funds raised will go towards practical improvements and expanded promotion.

“For the market, it means things like new signage, new banners, the possibility of promoting more in the newspaper and even on radio. So it allows the market to really get the message out there that they're there and what they're doing,” said Mr Matthews.

Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison praised the event’s impact on the region.

“We’re immensely proud of the efforts of everyone who helped make Take Another Breath- Grampians such a great success. We’d like to thank all those involved in the event planning and organising, and to everyone who attended and showed their support,” he said.

Dr Harrison said after natural disasters shut down much of the Grampians, it was evident that support was needed.

“Events like this are crucial for our region. They draw new visitors, boosting our economy and supporting our local producers and businesses. With nearly $4,000 raised for the Pomonal Markets, this event has made a significant contribution towards nurturing sustainable growth for the Pomonal community as they continue their recovery journey,” he said.
