Break-in at Tatyoon Hall disappoints locals
A break in and theft of items at the Tatyoon Hall last week has both angered and disappointed the local community.

On the night of Sunday July 20th thieves smashed through windows and doors at the hall and ransacked the premises.
Members of the Recreation Reserve Committee said cupboards had been yanked opened and their contents flung around the floors.
Food in fridges and freezers had been spoiled because the doors were left open.
A small amount of alcohol and equipment was stolen but no cash was kept on site.
That weekend the Tatyoon Football Netball Club had celebrated Tim Barr’s five hundredth game of football with the Hawks, and also conducted a fundraising Goods and Services Auction.
The break-in was especially disappointing with the theft of Tim’s sports bag containing his 500th game jumper.
While it would have little value to the thieves, it was certainly important to him.
He is hopeful that it may have been dumped somewhere, and a member of the public might hand it in to Police.
This is the third break in at the hall in under two years and the committee is frustrated with the loss and inconvenience.
They said that while Ararat Rural City Council has been most supportive and helpful in the aftermath, callous thieves have again given the community “a kick in the guts.”
