Bulls in solid position after day one
Jarrod Blandford has starred with the bat again for Beaufort, scoring 76 runs, helping them to a strong lead after day one of their two-day match against Colts Phelans in the Maryborough and District Cricket Association.
Batting first, Blandford was the talking point with only Brandon Walsh and Jayden Scotland able to score double figures with 10 and 13, respectively, as the Bulls were bowled out for 125 in the 53rd over.
At stumps, Colts Phelans are 5/52 in reply, with Jayden Scotland claiming two of the first three wickets.
Scotland’s figures are currently 2/18 (7). Charlie Dyer, Theo Trevelyan-Clark and Brandon Walsh have also taken wickets.
In the A-Reserve competition, Beaufort Red stormed to a strong win over Maryborough, while Blue suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Clunes.
Red restricted Maryborough to 8/155 off their 40 overs, with Harrison Grant doing the damage with the ball, claiming four wickets in his eight overs, conceding just 34 runs. Ben Grant bowled beautifully, finishing with 2/16 (8), while Thomas Grant and Blake Jantzen also picked up wickets.
Red chased the total down in the 37th over, finishing 4/158 thanks to an unbeaten 50 from Isaac Jantzen. Craig Grant was also unbeaten on 26, while Joshua Lofts scored 35.
Blue lost to Clunes by 136 runs. After bowling first, they restricted Clunes to 6/212. They had six individual wicket takers, with Dan Quixley the pick of the bowlers with 1/22 (7).
Blue were then bowled out for 76 with Nathan Elford unbeaten on 14. David Kiely top-scored with 16.
