Christmas toy appeals kicks off

ARARAT’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal is on again with the local community urged to donate. Ararat Emergency Relief Committee – a consortium of five local churches - puts in an extraordinary effort each year to ensure local families in need don’t miss out at Christmas. The annual toy collection sees hundreds of new toys donated which are then given to local children of struggling families. The Emergency Relief Committee also prepare around 100 Christmas food hampers for local families each Christmas. Donations of toys and cash can be made from next week at the Ararat Advocate office at 93a Barkly Street (next to the Post Office) A receipt will be issued for any cash donations. “We need the community to assist us again this year with donations of money and toys,” committee member Marilyn Brady said.
