Cosgriff on track for best season
Avoca’s Glen Cosgriff is having a standout season with the ball, picking up 16 wickets with a stellar average of 7.13, which includes two four-wicket hauls, including best career figures of 4/11.
Cosgriff had a remarkable four-week stint during the season, starting against Clunes, taking 3/13, Beaufort Red, taking 4/11, Maryborough, taking 2/15, and Laanecoorie Dunolly, taking 4/14.
Playing cricket for over twenty years, Cosgriff moved to Avoca from Rhymney/Moyston this season following the disbandment of the Grampians Cricket Association (GCA).
“Cam Holland shot me a message after the GCA folded, and I decided to come over here to play in a better comp, and it’s been pretty good,” Cosgriff said.
“It’s a great feeling what we have achieved so far, and hopefully we will continue it.”
Cosgriff has played in several premierships and spoke about two distinct highlights when asked about his favourite moments.
“It’s a toss-up between winning a match by scoring the final runs alongside my dad, David, or getting my first hat-trick,” he said.
Cosgriff needs just two more wickets to beat his season record. He has also scored 78 runs with a high score of 41.
