Council urged to renew China link

THERE are calls for Ararat to re-establish its sister-city relationship with the Chinese city of Taishan. The relationship between the two cities was struck in the 1990s, but in recent years it has not been pursued. Two former Mayors and the Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre are keen for the sister-city relationship to be revisited, arguing it is of enormous cultural and economic benefit to Ararat.
