The Crows held their nerve early, nailing their goals, and with great defence by Monique Preston and Hannah Jarvis, they got to an early lead.

The Roos threw everything they could at the Crows, but it was the Crows that held strong, running out 15-11 winners.

The league handed out two best-on-court awards, with the Crows’ Hannah Jarvis winning a signed Vixens ball, and Daina Griffin from the Roos winning the match ball.

Crows coach, Megan Bourke, has been coaching the girls since they started netball five years ago, and will conclude her coaching career with a premiership.

Bourke highlighted how massive the win was for the club.

“If these girls stick around, then the future is bright for the club,” she said.

“They were thrilled after the win, and the smiles they had on their faces made the early morning worth it.

“It was a massive achievement. At their age I don’t think they understand this doesn’t happen all of the time, and they may never play in a grand final again.”

While Bourke said the match was nerve-wracking, she was always confident and highlighted the best players on the court.

“It was tight, but I never had any doubt throughout the match that we weren’t going to win,” she said.

“The first shot that Eliza [Bourke] put on, I knew we were on, as they were settled from the start, compared to last week.

“Monique [Preston] and Hannah [Jarvis] in defence were amazing again, and in the second quarter, I told them that they are really saving us.

“Meagan Fraser was also great up forward, while Thea [Baker] was busy through the midcourt. Everyone contributed in their own way, and it was a real team effort.”
