A farmer from Buangor, Draffin was training with the Rats the last two years and decided to make the transfer this season having played five seasons for Camperdown in the Hampden Football Netball League.

Draffin has shone in defence for the Rats and is a key piece with the ability to take intercept marks and set up play.

Draffin said that while it’s not a breakout year, he credits a lot to the team.

“It helps to have a strong team around me, in particular two very good leaders in Tom Williamson and Tom Mills,” he said.

“They are good coaches that set me up well, and the playing group is a great bunch of guys.

“Everyone is driven, we are close, we have good numbers on the track, and everyone is young and local which I love, and was one of the reasons I decided to come here.”

Despite being 31, Draffin knows his football can improve.

“I still need to work on a lot of things, but I enjoy flying for the ball and making the most of that,” he said.

Finally, Draffin gave huge credit to Tom Williamson and Tom Mills for helping him grow in 2025.

“They are great coaches that can bounce off each other,” Draffin said.

“Tom [Williamson] has come a long way in the last few years with his coaching, and you can see it this year.

“He is dedicated and always has something to bring to the board.”
