Having been a steady fixture for over 140 years, The Seppelt Great Western Cup is one of western Victoria’s favourite race days and is up against three other great events vying for the Country Racing Victoria Community Club Event of the Year Award – The Towong Cup, Manangatang Cup and the Burrumbeet Cup.

The CRV Community Club Event of the Year Award recognises the most outstanding feature race day of the 2024-2025 season for clubs that host six or less race meetings, and CRV will dish out a $10,000 prize to the winner.

Results and prizes will be announced and presented at the bet365 Country Racing Victoria Awards evening on Saturday, August 23 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The spectacular day out at the races transcends horse racing itself, with incredible fashion, exciting gourmet food and wine, as well as high-calibre entertainment all complimenting the quality race program that happens each year on track.

Long-standing chairman of Great Western Racing Club, Carl Barry, was delighted to see his club nominated for their annual Cup meeting, which sees thousands of punters descend on the famous wine village on the Australia Day long-weekend each January.

“The club is run by a team of passionate thoroughbred racing enthusiasts and a committee who volunteer their time for the love of our great sport and for the Great Western community,” Mr Barry said.
