Junior footballers eye grand final berth

Navarre Grasshoppersunder-14 and under-17 footballers are one game away from a grand final berth following excellent wins in their semi-finals last weekend.

The under-14s were too good for Harcourt, winning 7.4.46 to 2.6.18. Scores were level at quarter-time before Navarre took an eight-point lead and a six-point lead into half-time and three-quarter time, respectively. A four-goal final quarter saw the Grasshoppers through to the preliminary final.   

George Greenaway, Morgan Greenaway and Angus Stewart all kicked two goals apiece, while Connor Alexander kicked one.   

Jack Sullivan was best-on-ground with Henry Small, Morgan Greenaway, Archer Crouch, Angus Stewart, and Sahsah Summerfield all named among the best.   

They will now play Trentham at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve on Sunday. The only time these two teams met this year was back in round 11, where Trentham won by 53 points.  

The under-17s had a comfortable 8.11.59 to 2.1.13 win over Lexton at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve on Sunday.

The Grasshoppers led comfortably at every change. Charlie Dunn kicked three goals alongside Kynan Torney, while Brady McMahon kicked two goals.   

Patrick Nellthorp, Brady McMahon, Ryder Sullivan, Jacob Martin, Jacob Dunn, and Kai Knight were all named among the best players.  

They now play Carisbrook on Saturday at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve. The only time these two sides met was back in round 10, where Carisbrook won by 34 points. 

The under-11s play their preliminary final against Newstead on Sunday following their qualifying win two weeks ago.
