Lexton Halloween Trail brings spooky fun to town
LEXTON families are set for a frightfully fun evening this Halloween, with Hayley Marcos and Christine Richards launching the town’s first Lexton Halloween Trail. Local mum Hayley was inspired to put on a little event for the communities’ children, after her own daughter requested an event for Halloween, sparking the idea for a community-wide trick-or-treat experience. With her mother, Sandra’s help, the event has quickly kicked off.
“We will have a map of the houses. It’s a bit of fun, it’s just something different.”
Ten locations across Lexton, including the Lexton Hub, have already signed up.
Sandra, who previously helped create Halloween trails in Timboon and Cobden, said the idea is about more than just spooky costumes.
“The whole idea of making an actual trail is so that the kids know where to go to knock on house doors,” she said.
“I think it will be fun for the town. It’s good fun for the community, it doesn’t have to be scary. That’s really irrelevant, the scary part. It just brings out everybody in the community.”
She added that the event often brings families together.
“It’s surprising how much mums and dads will all get dressed up in Halloween gear and come around with their kids so they make it like a family event.”
Participating homes will be marked with orange and black balloons, helping families know where to stop along the trail.
Organisers are asking participants to register online so catering and prizes can be organised.
“So we know how many people are going to be in the town. It’s important we’ve got enough for everyone,” Sandra said.
