The installation, delivered in partnership between Central Highlands Water and the Pyrenees Shire Council, will provide members from the Lexton Football Netball Club and local recreational users with easy access to fresh drinking water.

This fountain encourages locals to ‘bring your own bottle’ (BYOB) and opt for tap water over bottled water, delivering clear benefits for personal health, cost savings, and environmental impact. With the human body made up of around 70% water, staying appropriately hydrated supports overall wellbeing, including improved concentration and performance, especially important for participants at the Lexton Football Netball Club.

CHW, through its Choose Tap program, continues to play a key role in supporting regional communities.

This new fountain is not only a practical addition but also a way to promote education around the health, hydration, and sustainability benefits of choosing tap water.

CHW Managing Director, Jeff Haydon said the new fountain will help keep the local community hydrated all year long.

“At CHW, we’re proud to back initiatives that encourage positive and sustainable habits. This valuable community asset has been made possible through our strong partnership with the Pyrenees Shire Council,” he said.

Pyrenees Shire Council CEO, Jim Nolan, said council was pleased to partner with Central Highlands Water to enhance the Lexton Recreation Reserve’s fresh drinking water supplies.

“I encourage all our reserve users to bring along a bottle of their choice, choose natural tap water to stay hydrated while playing sport, and support sustainable environmental choices at the same time,” Mr Nolan said.
