The theme for Aged Care Employee Day is “Thanks for Caring”, to offer a tribute to the everyday heroes who make a real difference in the lives of the people they care for.

“Whether it’s personal care workers, nurses, allied health professionals, or our vital kitchen, cleaning, gardening, and laundry teams, every member of the MDHS team plays an essential role in the care and well-being of our residents,” said Debbie Rogers, Executive Director of Care, MDHS.

“We are incredibly proud of the work our team does every day.

“They bring passion, kindness, and dedication to their roles and it’s important we recognise the impact they have not only on the lives of our residents but also on their families.

“This day is a chance to say thank you to our staff for their ongoing commitment to our community.” said Mrs Rogers.

MDHS provides residential aged care in three modern campuses in Avoca, Maryborough and Dunolly, with a total of 94 beds across the three locations.

MDHS’s residential care facilities have been awarded four and five-star ratings through the My Aged Care government website.

The ratings are based on performance in relation to compliance, quality measures, the experience of residents and their families and staffing.

“We take pride in the care and support we provide to our residents, families and carers,” said Mrs Rogers.

“And to achieve these high ratings is great recognition of our team’s dedication to optimal resident care.

“As part of our Aged Care Employee Day celebrations, we created a special video to acknowledge our incredible team. We asked staff what drives them to do this important work, and residents what they value most about the care they receive.

“This prompted an outpouring of heart-felt gratitude, which was so affirming for everyone,” said Mrs Rogers.

Member for Ripon Martha Haylett has paid tribute to the hundreds of people working in aged care across our region, saying their work and dedication is exceptional and appreciated by a grateful community.
