Men's Shed lends a hand to Lake Fyans Parkrun
POMONAL Men's Shed members have been putting their woodworking skills to good use, crafting a series of timber marker posts for the new Lake Fyans Parkrun course. The posts will be installed at key points along the course, helping guide participants while highlighting a strong community partnership.
Lake Fyans Parkrun organiser Linda Henderson said working with the Men's Shed had been a rewarding experience.
"It's just been really nice to connect with the Men's Shed and it's something that connects us together," she said.
"Working with them to get it done is really good. They've donated their time and resources as well."
Ms Henderson said establishing the Parkrun had always been about bringing the community together.
"When I initiated establishing a Parkrun it was all about community for me," she said.
"GWM Water, who is the landowner, have given us permission to put this in. They've been really supportive of it as well, so it's a really nice community project happening here."
Pomonal Men's Shed president Wayne Farey said the project was a simple way for the group to give back.
"It was just a community thing. They wanted a couple of signs, we had the timber, it was straightforward," he said.
The marker posts also became the first project completed using the shed's new woodworking machinery.
"It was the first project with our new machines, but it turned out alright," Mr Farey said.
