Recognition for excellence as a club was the furthest thing from President Kevin Davies mind when he attended the conference.

The conference hosted by the Lions Club of Melbourne Chinese at the Novotel Hotel in Preston was a new experience for Kevin who hadn’t previously attended one.

Having joined Lions in 2019 when there were just three members, Kevin didn’t want to see the club disappear as it provided an excellent support to the region.

With a membership now of 27, Kevin has served as President since 2022.

At the conference, Kevin was thrilled to receive an award for marketing of the club and relaxing back, he was very pleasantly surprised when Mt Bolton and District was announced as the winner of the “Best Club Award”.

With 75 clubs in the district, Kevin said it was a huge surprise.

“You could have blown me over with a feather, I was so shocked.”  “I am incredibly proud of our club, we do an amazing amount across our communities and aim to support those in need,” he added.

Meanwhile, the club has recently welcomed its 27th member, with the recent induction of David Fitzgerald.
