Seven new cabins have been placed around the park offering a range of accommodation options for visitors.

The caravan park has doubled the number of cabins on offer to 14, including an all-abilities access cabin with two bedrooms, toilet, kitchen and ramp access – catering for people of all ages and abilities.

The cabins were backed by $500,000through Regional Development Victoria and are set to attract more visitors to Beaufort which relies on a vibrant visitor economy to drive growth and prosperity for local businesses and organisations.

The new accommodation will also play a key role in addressing staffing shortages in the area, providing fixed term stays for workers unable to find lodgings in town, while at the same time helping to expand

Beaufort’s visitor demographics and driving business tourism in the area.

The cabins, coupled with 47 camping sites at the park, mean a grand total of 61 lots are now ready to welcome visitors to Beaufort Lake.

Seven full-time equivalent jobs were supported during the construction of the cabins.

Member for Ripon, Martha Haylett, officially opened the new cabins last Friday.

“This is a really big day for housing and accommodation in Beaufort.

“We need more accommodation and housing in our regions and that’s why the Victorian Government has put the funding in.

“Funding for the Beaufort Lakeside Caravan Park is part of our record $47 billion investment in rural and regional Victoria in just over a decade, meaning more jobs close to home and regional economies that are supported to thrive,” Ms Haylett said.

“Beaufort is such a popular visitor destination, and I’m excited to see more people will be able to visit the town and experience everything the region has to offer thanks to these fantastic new cabins.”

Ms Haylett said she is already working with Pyrenees Shire Council on ways to fund the next stage of the caravan park redevelopment.

“The Victorian Government always wants to work on projects like this and I’ve already been talking to the Pyrenees Shire, they’ve been in my ear about the next stage of this project and I look forward to helping them get that funding in the future,” Ms Haylett said.

Pyrenees Shire Mayor Tanya Kehoe said the extra cabins are just what Beaufort needs.

“It’s such an important project. We’re trying to develop our tourism and economic development strategy and are always looking at new ways to bring economic development to our shire.

“Things like our caravan parks are a vital part of that project and we welcome people not only locally from interstate and overseas to our beautiful area,” she said.

“The completion of this phase will allow the caravan park to accommodate new and existing visitors, cater for people with disabilities, provide a diverse range of accommodation options and present an improved experience for visitors all year round,” Cr Kehoe said.

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes said the investment will help cater for the growing number of visitors to Beaufort and the Pyrenees.

“Regional Victoria has a thriving visitor economy and investments like this are part of our commitment to help make Beaufort and the Grampians region even better places to invest, live, work, play and stay,” Minister Symes said.
