New owners guarantee the future of Chinese Garden
AVOCA’s popular Chinese Garden has a bright new future, with the property changing hands last week.

The new owners travelled from Melbourne to meet with the Chinese Garden committee in the 'Garden of Fire and Water' on Sunday.
The Chinese Garden is a community project situated on private land along the Avoca Riverflat on the site of the old saleyards.
The committee entered into a long lease with the owners of the property in 2014 and the current lease isn’t due to expire until 2044.
The Low family from Melbourne said it is excited about purchasing the garden and looks forward to working with the current committee to ensure the garden's future.
Soon Low was born in Guangzhou (China), and his mother was born in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
They migrated to Melbourne from Malaysia in 1988.
Their son Kung Low said the family was excited to be part of the gardens.
"My parents would like to see the garden continue to be utilised as a central community space where everyone can enjoy the peaceful settings and for interested user groups or individuals to make positive memories in the place," he said.
Chinese Garden President John Quinn welcomed the Low family to Avoca.
He said the committee was relieved to know the garden is to remain 'as is' and that the new owners are keen to see community and family events held in the garden.
"We may even be able to welcome visitors from Melbourne who want to learn about the Chinese influence on the Goldfields and their role in establishing Avoca as an emerging town in Central Victoria during the gold rush era,” Mr Quinn said.
