Aimed at ages 12 to 25, the chorus will meet every Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Town Hall Back Stage, offering participants the opportunity to develop vocal skills and experience the joy of group singing.

Having recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance, Ms Williams said she’s excited to share her knowledge and passion with her hometown community.

“I’ve been part of the Stawell Performing Arts Company for 17 years, and during my time in Melbourne studying music, I joined a choir focused on singing and harmony,” she said.

“It was a great experience, and I realised that while Stawell has programs for young kids and youth theatre, there’s a gap when it comes to vocal production and choral singing.”

Ms Williams believes the new group will not only nurture musical talent but also promote wellbeing.

“Being in a room of people and singing is an amazing experience. Music and singing are so important for mental health, and I think having something like this in our community will be valuable, and I have the skills to provide that,” she said.

Interest is already growing, with Ms Williams hoping to attract between 15 and 25 participants. For those unsure about taking part, she offers some reassuring advice.

“It’s always worth turning up and having a listen. If you’ve never sung in a group, it can feel daunting,” she said.

“But my advice is just come and see what it’s like. If it’s not for you, that’s okay, but if it is, it’ll be worth it.”
