Oak and Hound back in business

AFTER a few months away, Oak and Hound Wine Bar is set to reopen its doors, with owner Tony Miles confirming that they will be welcoming customers back within two weeks. The wine bar faced a long wait on updated approvals from Liquor Control Victoria, putting trading on pause since the end of July.

“It’s been almost 10 or 11 weeks without having traded,” Tony said.

“I look forward to having you all back in again.”

Oak and Hound originally launched with great success, despite early challenges with limited licensing that restricted operating hours and patron numbers.

After navigating months of red tape, Tony has now secured a new licence agreement that will allow greater flexibility.

“The premise will be the same in that I’ll continue to promote local,” he said.

“There’ll be an expanded range and the ability to trade over different hours. The hours of trade will be predominantly the same, but if there’s a large group booking, like over Christmas or for functions, I’ll be able to open for longer or on different days to facilitate that.”

Tony also has plans to expand the venue in the near future with a wine garden.

“I have to do some upgrades to the facilities down there first,” he said hoping to work in with events from the town hall and surrounding businesses.

“Hopefully we’ll get a bit of cross-trade with everybody.”

The wine bar will still be capped at 30 patrons, but bookings are already being taken in the lead-up to Christmas.
