Orchid enthusiasts prepare for annual summer show
ORCHID enthusiasts from across the region will converge on Stawell this weekend as the Stawell Orchid Society hosts its highly anticipated Summer Show.
The two-day event will be held at the Stawell Senior Citizens Rooms in Victoria Street today and tomorrow, Saturday November 7 and Sunday, November 8, showcasing the impressive variety of orchids grown by society members.
Now in its 36th year, the Stawell Orchid Society continues to bring together people who share a passion for these beautiful and often spectacular flowers.
The annual show provides a wonderful opportunity for experienced growers and newcomers alike to admire the displays, learn more about orchid growing and share their interest with fellow enthusiasts.
Visitors will also have the chance to speak with society members, ask questions and pick up valuable advice and growing tips to help them care for their own orchids.
Those keen to learn more will be able to watch special orchid potting demonstrations throughout the weekend, with demonstrations scheduled for 12 midday and 2pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.
A range of orchids will also be available for purchase, giving visitors the opportunity to take home something special and perhaps start or expand their own collection.
Organisers hope the show will attract a strong turnout, with people travelling from across the region to enjoy the displays and support the long-running local society.
Whether an experienced orchid grower or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of these remarkable plants, the Summer Show promises something of interest for everyone.
The show will run from 9am until 4pm on Saturday, November 7, and from 10am until 3pm on Sunday, November 8.
Entry is $5, with everyone welcome.
