Ready, set, go
THE Lake Fyans Walking Track parkrun will soon be taking off, thanks to the efforts of Pomonal resident Linda Henderson.
Linda has spent months liaising with Parkrun, securing funding, and locking in the Lake Fyans walking track as the official venue for a new weekly Parkrun.
This week, she announced that the event is moving into its final stages.
“Yes, it is happening, and we are now about to hold our two required trials before we officially launch,” she said.
The community trials will take place on Saturday, September 7, and Saturday, September 21, both at 8am.
“Come along and participate, and help our community get ready for the official launch,” Linda said.
“We are holding our two trials during September, so we’re busy organising rosters with our local community stepping up with enthusiasm.”
Linda explained that the trials are to help prepare volunteers and test the logistics of the event.
“They serve as a means for us to test the logistics and atmosphere of our event, making sure we identify any issue prior to launch. They help anyone who wants to volunteer to have a go at a role and learn the ropes.”
The official launch of the official Lake Fyans Walking Track Parkrun will take place at 8am on Saturday, October 4.
