Ripon candidate announced by One Nation
A speech pathologist from Gippsland has been selected as One Nation's candidate for Ripon at this November's election.
Donna Buxton runs her own speech pathology business and is based in Charlton.
She has spent much of her working life supporting children, families and communities across regional Victoria.
Ms Buxton was born and raised in Traralgon.
The One Nation website says that through her work in education and health and her lived experience of disability, Ms Buxton understands the importance of accessible health, disability and community services. "She has seen firsthand the challenges regional Victorians face in accessing essential services and the pressures on families and small businesses when rural communities are overlooked in decisions made in Melbourne,” the website states.
"Donna is particularly concerned about the cost of living, access to health and essential services, Victoria’s growing debt and the impact of government policy on farmers and regional communities. She believes farmers and landholders deserve a genuine voice when major infrastructure projects affect productive farmland, livelihoods and communities.”
Ms Buxton is the fifth candidate to enter the field for Ripon along with Labor’s Martha Haylett, Liberal Megan Read, Nationals Jo Armstrong, Greens Tim Dryly and independent Bernard Quince.
