Council encourages community members to continue using Snap Send Solve to report issues such as littering, abandoned rubbish, and other local concerns, as the app provides precise geolocation information that helps teams locate it and respond more efficiently.

Council CEO, Dr Tim Harrison, said there is no excuse for dumping sharps or any other waste in the community, particularly when safe and convenient disposal options are available.

“Choosing to dump needles or other sharps in the community is completely unacceptable,” Dr Harrison said.

“There are free, no questions asked sharps disposal options available in Ararat, and using them is a simple way to look after your neighbours, your family, and yourself.”

Residents can safely dispose of sharps at designated collection points in Ararat Rural City at no cost, including appropriate facilities within the township.

Council is reminding anyone who uses sharps to plan ahead, carry a suitable sharps container, and make use of these services rather than leaving waste where it can harm others or the environment.

Anyone who discovers dumped waste containing sharps is urged not to handle it directly, and instead to lodge a Snap Send Solve report or contact Council for advice.
