Skeletons and witches out of the closet

MORE than 500 excited children hit the streets of Stawell last week for Halloween, with Melissa Milosevic’s King Street home once again the talk of the town. Melissa’s house has become something of a Halloween hot spot in Stawell, and this year was no different. Crowds of costumed kids and parents lined the street to join in on the spooky fun and collect their sweet treats.

“We actually had 90 through at 11 o’clock because the schools wanted to bring the kids through and they organised buses and actually brought them through early,” Melissa said.

“We definitely had another 350 through because all the lolly bags that I had left had gone and we ran out. We had some other backup lolly bags and we brought them out and we just made it through,” she said.

The event drew praise from families who said Melissa’s home was their favourite stop of the night.

“They loved it, they kept coming, the costumes were amazing,” she said.

“They were all dressed up and the parents were dressed up and well-behaved. I had quite a few people say to me, ‘You’re the favourite house everywhere, we have to come here, they love it.’”

With so many children to accommodate for Melissa admitted it wasn’t easy.

“It was hectic, but it was all good though,” she said.

With spirits high and plenty of laughter echoing through Stawell, this year’s Halloween was a treat for all ages, once again, Stawell knows how to celebrate in spooky style.
