Snags in the park for a good cause

The mouth-watering aroma of sausages and onions cooking on a barbecue filled the air at Cato Park recently during a fundraiser for a good cause. The Pink Ribbon Breakfast initiative is a nationwide movement where members of the community host a breakfast, brunch or lunch to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Event organiser Makayla Goodwin said that like so many people in the community, her family had been touched by the effects of breast cancer.

“My partner and I were on our way to Adelaide and it popped up on Facebook that October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, said Ms Goodwin.

“We just thought we’d like to do our bit to help, and everyone loved getting together for a sausage sizzle.”

The crew enjoyed a sunny day in the park, which Ms Goodwin was relieved about after the wet and windy weather conditions that have hit Stawell throughout October.

“We’d been watching the weather for the past two weeks, and we’re very thankful that it’s a beautiful day,” she said.
