Sparrows Lane documents Ararat’s unique history
ARARAT Rural City Council has formally endorsed the name Sparrows Lane for a laneway running off Barkly Street in centre of Ararat’s business district. The name recognises the historical release of sparrows in Ararat, an event that marked an unusual and fascinating chapter in the town’s story and has been documented in local records over many years.
Council has agreed to the name Sparrows Lane for the prominent lane running off Barkly Street.
