Warm, sunny conditions greeted the bowlers after rain dampened the greens the previous week.

Ararat VRI won two rinks on the day. Brent Bulger skippered his rink, which featured Mark Helmich, Alan Dunn, and Brian Leehane, to a 21-19 win.

Shane Briggs' rink featuring Mick Bulger, Paul Bulger, and Graeme Bates won 28-23. Clayton Holcombe’s rink, featuring Shelley Holcombe, Richard Schwab, and Craig Wight, lost in a thriller, 25-27.

Ararat VRI’s win sees them second on the ladder, one win behind undefeated Stawell.

Chalambar Golf defeated Lake Bolac and District 81-60, winning two rinks. Their biggest win came with the Chris Young skippered rink. Featuring Michael Franklin, Rhonda Wall, and Richard Harricks, they won 36-16 over the rink skippered by Ian Park, featuring Roger Flanner, Julie Walker, and John McInnes.

The rink featuring Gary Todd, Bill Waterston, Michael Jennings, and skipper Jess Austin won 28-19 over the Rodney Ford skippered rink which featured Robert Stewart, Matthew Been, and Raymond McLeod.

The Robert Hodgetts skippered rink, featuring Craig Stewart, Corey Hope, and Peter Browne, lost 14-38, while the Roland Currie skippered rink, featuring Gary Hannett, Dale Anderson, and Dennis Low, lost a thriller, 23-25.

Meanwhile, in-house issues at Ararat Bowling Club late last week forced them to forfeit Division One and Two against Aradale due to a lack of numbers. The club is confident they can get the numbers to field teams against Stawell Golf tomorrow.

In Division Two, Lake Bolac and Chalambar Golf drew 70-70, Stawell defeated Ararat VRI 100-39, and Stawell Golf defeated Aradale 101-51.
