Many of Lyn’s family had travelled from afar to celebrate her extensive collection of watercolour works.

Longtime friends and fellow artists, Ernie and Liz Veszely had encouraged Lyn to explore painting following the loss of her youngest son to cancer in 2007 and were present for the official opening.

Ernie was invited to address the gathering, and he outlined Lyn’s artistic journey from her early oil painting days to her transition to watercolours.

He also spoke of her love of nature and its influence on the subjects she chose to feature in her paintings.

Lyn thanked her family and friends for their ongoing support and for joining her for her first ever exhibition.

She also acknowledged the support and guidance provided by the Avoca Arts and Gardens committee in presenting the exhibition as well as the Clunes Art Group for their inspiration to take up and enjoy creative hobbies regardless of age, experience or personal challenges.

Deb Britten from the Clunes group also congratulated Lyn on the success of her exhibition and thanked her for her friendship and support of local artists.

Lyn’s work is on display each Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am to 4pm until June 30 at Gallery 127 in the old Avoca Railway Station.
