Youngsters steer Marnoo across the line
Twelve-year-olds Jack Duxson and Charles Carter held their nerves to steer Marnoo to victory over Watchem in round seven of the Wimmera Mallee Cricket Association.

Chasing 195 for Victory, Marnoo looked like they were going to get over the line, but two late wickets saw them fall to 7/193.
Duxson played patiently while the wickets were falling around him, facing 17 balls, and it was Charles Carter who hit the winning runs to guide Marnoo to victory.
Earlier, Daniel Tatarskyj hit 53 for Watchem as they finished at 8/194 off their 40 overs.
Daniel Schaper, 3/45 (8), was the pick of the bowlers for Marnoo. Angus Bade, 2/34 (5), and Ted Caldwell, 2/23 (8), also bowled well.
Marnoo’s run chase started well, with Angus Bade and Brylie Cameron combining for a 62-run opening stand before Bade fell for 19, caught by Noah Dean off Connor Boyle.
They lost Nic Baird for 12, and when Cameron fell for 40, they were 3/88.
David Lang and Daniel Schaper combined for 38 runs, and then David Lang hung around to form another strong partnership. When Lang fell for 44, they were 5/176.
The youngsters stood tall in the end to guide Marnoo to a strong victory.
At King Georges Park, St Arnaud had a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Southern Mallee Giants.
After winning the toss and bowling, they restricted the Giants to 9/129 off 40 overs. Jacob Patching was the pick of the St Arnaud bowlers with 4/24 (8).
St Arnaud chased the total down with ease in the 32nd over, finishing at 2/132 with Patching unbeaten on 83 and Michael Stones on 26.
In the other match, Birchip defeated Charlton by 166 runs. The league will now halt for Christmas, with matches resuming January 31.
